The Export and Investment Agency of El Salvador (PROESA) inaugurated this morning the First Agrifood Forum called "The importance of packaging in the marketing of export products", which provided tools to access new markets competitively, to exporters and potential exporters.
"This forum is a way PROESA boost the growth of our export community, which is a great contribution to the economy of our country," president of PROESA, Sigfrido Reyes, said.
The forum showed the importance of using different packaging in the agribusiness, food and drinks sectors, and important elements of the design and development of a packaging, such as paper addressed, were reported.
It was attended by speakers specialists in various topics, such as use of technology in the packaging, storage and transport; digital strategies applied to the packaging, identification of strategic customers and markets for export, and best practices for the diversification of export markets. Moreover, the experience of Cultivar and Vape companies was shared.
The forum was attended by Iván Rodríguez, a 29 years expert on research, design, development, marketing and engineering teaching and design of packaging, containers, and packaging; Juan Diego Rodríguez, a brand and product development expert, with experience on corporate image building and digital strategies; and Jerry Shade, specialist on manufacturing, import and distributionof products.
The agribusiness and food and drink sectors are important items for Salvadoran exports. Currently, agribusiness accounts for 13.3% of total exports, while the food and beverage sector, accounts for 7.6%.
Both sectors have grown significantly in the last year. Between 2014 and 2015, the agribusiness sector grew by 12.7%, while food and beverage sectors did by 7.8%.
On October 2015, Salvadoran exports have grown 5.52% (USD 249 million) compared with January -October 2014 period.
