The Government of El Salvador, through the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA) participated in the inaugural ceremony of the First Central American Workshop on Energy Storage and Intelligent Networks, organized by the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) with GM Group, Wartsila and Prinel.
"PROESA supports initiatives like this, which promote generation of greater awareness about the benefits of energy storage, not only for El Salvador but for the region. We know it can be an option to increase the supply of clean energy in our countries ", President of PROESA, Sigfrido Reyes, said.
Energy storage guarantees the power supply, and provides a strong source of support to fluctuations and batch of non-conventional renewable energy.
During the workshop, the participants discussed topics such as the importance of the new trends in the energy sector for the promotion and attraction of investments, subject addressed by president of PROESA; the need of energy storage in Central America; the situation of the electricity sector in the region and energy storage applications to the network; technologies and experience on the use of energy storage, economic feasibility and benefits of the system.
The event was attended by experts in the field and private companies, such as NEC Energy Solutions, INVENERGY and ENERDEL; and experts, such as David K. Nichols, president of DKN Consulting, and Doug Houseman, an expert on smart grids.
