One of the most important tourism fairs in the world, the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), gave El Salvador the best stand FITUR 2018, in the category of countries. El Salvador competed with 165 countries and was the winner for the first time in this event.

Among the selection criteria established by FITUR organizers for the choice of prize are: professionalism, which corresponds to the adaptation of the stand; communication and promotion, which highlights the identification of the stand with the image and design that has to do with the degree of originality and innovation.

The concept of the stand of El Salvador in FITUR was "An Enchanting Town", through the staging of Suchitoto, a municipality that highlights the pride of being Salvadoran through its cultural beauty, the promotion of sustainable tourism and its traditions that were set in the Salvadoran stand at FITUR. This concept was presented under the umbrella of Marca País "El Salvador, great as its people".

The qualifying jury described the Salvadoran stand as discreet and elegant, subtle and poetic, traditional and contemporary, reflecting in an intimate photograph the country of short distances, which opens the way to its colonial architecture, its gastronomy, its craftsmanship and the warmth of its people who highlight the greatness of El Salvador.

The activities that most attracted attention among the attendees of the fair was the tasting of the best Salvadoran coffee, prepared by the ambassador of Marca País and world champion of barista 2011, Alejandro Méndez.

The attendees of the tourist business meeting also enjoyed some delicious Salvadoran pupusas and a wedding simulation at the foot of the facade of the colonial church, Santa Lucia de Suchitoto.

Through the stand, more than the 244, 972 participants counted in FITUR, were able to know the potentialities of El Salvador, not only in the tourism sector, but also, its culture, gastronomy and business opportunities.

The distinction to the best country stand was given to the Salvadoran delegation led by the Ministry of Tourism, which includes 17 entrepreneurs from the tourism sector, representatives of the Export and Investment Promotion Agency of El Salvador (PROESA) and the Embassy of El Salvador in Spain.
