HanesBrands graduated its first class of virtual high school graduates

HanesBrands carried out the eleventh graduation of the educational program in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MINED), to provide education to its employees.

 

The high school graduation becomes the first to be done virtually, the beneficiaries are part of the HanesBrands program that ended last year, but could not be completed, due to the restrictions of the pandemic.

 

«This is the first graduation of the program of flexible modalities that the MINED officially takes place this year. More than a decade after implementing the Hanes Educational Program.

 

Since 2009, with the HanesBrands Educational Program, the company has invested an approximate of $ 3 million for the learning of its employees between El Salvador and Honduras.

 

The investment includes access to resources to complete basic education, university studies, employees with master's degrees and various certifications, as well as participation in specialized courses within Hanes mechanical schools in both countries.

 

In total, the company has added more than 450,000 hours in training initiatives and educational specialization of its employees throughout Central America.

 

Likewise, the company in previous editions has graduated employees from university careers, an action that makes it the first company in the field to carry out this type of educational program for its employees.

 

“We have worked for more than a decade to provide our employees with the most valuable asset education. With this new graduation we validate once again our commitment to improve living conditions in the countries where we operate, ”said Sikaffy.

 

The ceremony was held simultaneously in the six plants that the company operates in the country, Hanes representatives presented a total of 67 bachelor's degrees to their employees in El Salvador.

 

The first promotion that the company graduates in times of pandemic. In total, the awardees completed 85% of the study hours of online modalities, mostly through their smartphones an average of eight hours a week.

 

"It is demonstrated how Hanes, despite the pandemic, continues to maintain the benefits for its employees and offer creative alternatives so that they can get ahead," concluded Sikaffy.

 

According to the human resources leader, the opportunity given to employees to continue their studies also affects their productivity, as greater loyalty is obtained, as well as a more motivated workforce to carry out your day-to-day operations especially in these times of Covid-19.

 

«I finally managed to finish high school after 15 years ago I stopped studying and then I rejoined in 2018 with the support of the Hanes Educational Program, the effort has been worth it since this diploma opens up new study opportunities for me and life, "said Elvia Martínez, operator of the El Salvador Socks plant since 2009.

 

One of the main focuses of Hanes Organizational Development strategy is to provide education at all levels of the company. Therefore, it provides a series of benefits to keep its staff motivated and trained with the three talent development centers, a school for industrial mechanics and a school for textile mechanics, both unique in the region.

 

The company covers the costs of coordinating the learning programs, subsidizes school supplies, and supports adjusting work schedules with study schedules.

 

Hanes has operated in El Salvador for almost 30 years, where it has consolidated the business with a total of six manufacturing, cutting and sewing plants. In addition, being one of the largest exporting companies in the country with a total of eight consecutive years, registering at the end of 2019, a total of $ 798 million in sales abroad.
